Many businesses sell the same product in different sizes or variations. Savetime Calculator POS allows you to create these as product variants, making it possible to manage each size separately while keeping related products easy to identify.
For example, if you sell T-shirts in different sizes, you can create:
Each variant is treated as its own stock item.
Different sizes can have completely different stock levels and sales histories. Recording each variant separately ensures that your inventory records accurately reflect what you actually have.
If you have:
T-Shirt Small — 8 pieces
T-Shirt Medium — 15 pieces
T-Shirt Large — 4 pieces
T-Shirt XL — 10 pieces
the POS keeps these quantities separate rather than combining them into one total for T-shirts.
This is particularly important when checking your stock records or deciding which particular size needs to be restocked.
Because each variant is recorded as a separate product, each one has its own stock card.
For example, the stock card for T-Shirt Large shows the stock movements specifically for that size. It does not combine the movements of Small, Medium or XL.
This gives you a true picture of the stock history of each variant, including the quantities received and sold.
When creating variants, include the distinguishing characteristic in the product name.
For size-based products, names such as:
T-Shirt Small
T-Shirt Medium
T-Shirt Large
make it immediately clear which product is being sold or viewed in the inventory.
The same approach can be used where products differ by another important characteristic, provided each variation needs to be tracked separately.
Recording variants separately gives you more accurate stock information and makes it easier to identify exactly which size or variation is moving quickly, running low or needs to be reordered.
Instead of seeing one combined figure for all T-shirts, you can see the actual stock position of each individual variant.
Product Variants help you keep related products organized while maintaining separate stock records for each size or variation. This gives you a clearer and more accurate picture of your inventory.
